Buffets are our specialty. I personally enjoy trying new buffets whenever I can. Most of these will be the traditional Chinese/American/Italian buffet you normally find, but will also include non-Chinese such as Old Country Buffet. I've been to dozens of buffets throughout the years, and have my personal favorites. This section may seem small at first, since many buffets I may have not visited in awhile and wish to leave them out for the time being until I revisit them.

I've also included an extra section called "selection", since many people want to know what is offered. We'll try and be as precise as possible and include specifics about number of selections, desserts, sushi, carving stations, soups, salads, etc.

Note that most of the time I visit a buffet, I go during the lunch hour so that the price is cheap. We'll try and note prices for lunch/dinner/weekends so you have an idea on what you will be paying. I'm also going to include if I can, whether or not the restaurant offers a senior discount.

International Buffet
497 S. Washington Ave. #505
Bergenfield, NJ 07621
201-384-5418

Food quality - overall food is pretty good. Most food is fresh at all times

Service - service is pretty good. Empty plates are removed relatively fast and staff is usually timely with drink refills

Selection - wide selection of foods. Includes a sushi bar which offers spicy tuna, salmon, eel, california, shrimp, crab meat, tofu, cucumber, and others. Has a nice sized salad bar along with a good selection of fruits. Also offers cold salads like potato and chicken salad. Usually has 2 soups. American foods are plenty, along with some Italian, and of course Chinese. Desert bar usually offers a small selection of cakes and cookies. Soft ice cream is available here.

Price - price is very fair for the selection. Lunch M-F is $6.95, Sat $7.95. Drink is an additional 99 cents.

Cleanliness - overall maintained clean in dining area and in bathroom

Misc - one of my favorite buffets to go to. Price has slightly increased over the years. I've been coming here at least 5 years now, usually 8-10 times per year. Offers 10% off for seniors. Grade: A-

Fun Buffet Restaurant and Bar
440 Danforth Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07305
201-333-0072

Food quality - food quality wasn't too bad, but there was an exception (see below)

Service - service was poor. Cleanup of empty plates and refills for drinks was extremely slow

Selection - I can't remember the selection too much because of my personal experience below. I believe they had a decent selection, but sort of remember not much being offered in the dessert area, and I don't believe they offered sushi.

Price - price was average I believe. We may have gone on a Sunday, because I remember it being around $10 per person and definitely not worth it

Cleanliness - I believe the restaurant was fairly clean

Misc - my personal experience with this place will keep me from ever coming here again. Besides the fact that I didn't feel it was worth the price, I took some pudding from the dessert bar which turned out to be sour. I believe I did get sick, or came extremely close. My recommendation is to not come here. Grade: D

J J  Super China Buffet
5 Main Ave
Wallington, NJ 076057
973-773-6662

Food quality - overall food is pretty good. Food is fresh at all times

Service - service is pretty good. Empty plates are removed relatively fast and staff is usually timely with drink refills

Selection - the selection here is pretty good, especially for the price. there is a small sushi bar, though you may have to ask for some to be made. Pieces are large and tasty, though it has a smaller selection. This also has a mix of American, Chinese, and Italian foods. There is always a nice selection of meats, including a pork roast you can carve, even during the lunch hour. Salmon is almost always served too. The salad bar is relatively small, though they usually have about 6-7 different fruits. Dessert has a small selection of cookies and cakes, though they are better tasting than others. Soft served ice cream is available

Price - this is the cheapest buffet I've ever come across. Well worth the money. Lunch M-F is $5.95, Sat $6.95. Drink is an additional 99 cents.

Cleanliness - overall maintained clean in dining area and in bathroom

Misc - between the International Buffet in Bergenfield, and this one, it is touch to choose which is my favorite. Price has not increased over the years. I've been coming here at least 5 years now, usually 8-10 times per year. Grade: A-

La Fiesta Buffet
6100 Bergenline Ave
West New York, NJ 07093
201-869-6832

Food quality - overall food is pretty good. Most food is fresh at all times

Service - service is pretty good. Empty plates are removed relatively fast and staff is usually timely with drink refills

Selection - the selection is extremely small, especially for the price. Besides Chinese, Spanish food is offered including paella which was very good. There were nice carving meats. No sushi. I don't remember there being much in the way of salads or desserts

Price - price is slightly high for what is offered. I believe during lunch hour from M-F, price was $8 or $9.

Cleanliness - overall maintained clean in dining area and in bathroom

Misc - this buffet is relatively small in size, which is why there is not a huge selection of food. Since they offer some nice Spanish food, in a high Spanish area, this restaurant is usually packed. Also, the fact there are no other buffets nearby helps it. Grade: B
